Kinks in the System

On the road ahead, a pinpoint darkness appeared and grew, coming closer and larger, swirling and sucking in matter from the roadside.

Jamie’s eyes flew wide, and he stared at the enormous disk of shadow with streamers like fingers, devouring trees, signs, and electric poles with ear-shattering explosions.

He hammered the brake. The car spun, sucked in by massive forces of wind and gravity.

Jamie screamed and covered his head.

Silence. Jamie lowered his arms and looked out of his crumpled car.

A face looked in. “Welcome to 3024 CE, Jamie. Sorry for the rough ride. We’re working on that.”
