After the song, Howard took his brother and father to his study for cigars. Virginia remained as hostess for the ladies.

“Penny looks more and more like Howard.” Penelope’s grandmother was proud of her sons, Howard and William.

Penny’s Aunt Ruth tugged her little boy’s arm. “Sit still, Charley.” The five-year-old was climbing the walls.

Not Virginia’s Penny; she was a lady. She did look just like Howard, and why not? He was her uncle.

“Another biscuit, Charley?” Virginia asked.

Nothing Ruth needed to know. Or Howard, for that matter.
