Some Things Never Change
Wallace knocked ash from his cigarette, refreshed the coral ember, and blew smoke toward the No Smoking sign. A greasy tumbler of vodka rested at his elbow. A Rolex coiled on the table like a golden torc. His monogram embellished his folded wallet.
In silence, his phone’s face lit with a notification. He smoked and read the text. Dinner is getting cold
Turning his head to speak over his shoulder, he said, “I have to go. My wife’s calling.”
“You said you’d tell her.”
“I have to wait for the right time.”
“You’ve been saying that for two years.”
“My kids—”
“Will be grown before it’s the right time. I’m done.” The woman rose from the bed and reached for her bra on a chair.
Wallace turned around to watch her dress.
“Why are you smiling?” she asked.
“You’re so damn hot.”
“Get a good look because it’s the last time.”
“Don’t be like that. I’m going to tell her.”
“Don’t bother, Wallace.” She finished dressing in a hurry, found her purse, and left him smoking.
He took one last drink while tapping the phone. OMW

She’s a smart woman. She probably should’ve left him a year ago though but maybe she had to learn. Once a cheater, always a cheater. He doesn’t seem to affected his affair is done. Me thinks he’ll just find smother one and keep cheating on his wife. I hope she catches him and sues him.

I wrote about a cheating wife so thought it only fair to write about a cheating husband. Thank you for reading. I hope it wasn’t too frustrating!

Good story. An insensitive man who only cares about himself. Reminds me of a couple of people I know.

Can’t hide his smile, but quick with a ready lie for it. Classic rich prick, that’s for sure!
